AnyPane

Support

Connection help, without the guesswork.

AnyPane is pre-release. There is no public download or public TestFlight link yet.

Start with SSH

  1. Create an SSH connection with the server address, port and username.
  2. Choose a password or supported OpenSSH Ed25519 private key. RSA keys and keyboard-interactive/OTP are not supported.
  3. If needed, select one SSH jump host.
  4. Confirm the server’s SHA-256 fingerprint through a trusted channel before accepting it.
  5. Add the connection to a workspace to open a terminal.

Connect a VNC desktop

Create a VNC connection with the address, port and password. Apple Screen Sharing / MS-Logon also requires a username. Prefer an SSH tunnel; direct VNC traffic is not encrypted. VeNCrypt/TLS is not supported.

Use a local forward

Select an SSH connection, then set a local port and remote target address and port. Start the forward and check its status. Only loopback listeners are supported; stop the forward when finished.

Troubleshooting

Connection refused or timed out
Check the address, port, server service, VPN/network route and firewall. Verify access using your own authorized environment.
SSH host key changed
Do not bypass the warning. Independently verify whether the server key was legitimately replaced before updating trust.
Authentication failed
Check the username and supported credential type. Never email a password, private key or passphrase.
Disconnected after backgrounding
iOS/iPadOS does not guarantee persistent background connections. Return to the app and retry manually.
Pane closed but connection remains
Closing or detaching a pane does not disconnect it. SSH sessions belong to a workspace; VNC sessions are shared between workspaces.

Before sharing a report

Include app version, OS version, device type, protocol, steps to reproduce and a sanitized error message. Remove hostnames, IP addresses, usernames, terminal contents and desktop details from screenshots or diagnostics. Basic diagnostic redaction is not a guarantee.

Current limits

No SSH Agent, ProxyCommand, multi-hop jump chains, Remote Forward, SOCKS, SFTP, RDP, audio or session recording. Automatic reconnection is not a current UI feature. External server interoperability and full device/input testing are not yet release-certified.

Minimum systems: iOS/iPadOS 17 and macOS 15.
